No matter what your interest, this trip HAS IT ALL!

The Captains of Sankofa Odyssey are pleased to present their 2018 Bareboat Chartering Adventure to the Leeward islands of Antigua. Easy to access with stunning beauty and adventure, this destination has something for everyone.

“Bareboat chartering” is a participatory means of travel/vacation. It is not a cruise. There are no waiters, maids, cooks – we sail the boat together, we cook together, we clean together, and we party . . . together!

Sample Itinerary for Antigua 2018

Day One: English Harbor

Rich in maritime history, and fringed with
lush forests and steep cliffs, English Harbor is
excellent for walking and exploring. The
harbor encompasses a unique and diverse
landscape of beaches and mangroves.

Day Two: Shirley Heights

Get a fantastic view of the area on the hills
overlooking the dockyard at Shirley Heights,
which is also an old military position and gun
battery sitting 490ft above sea level. It’s the
place to be on a Sunday afternoon and
evening, when a local steel band plays and
you can enjoy delicious local BBQ while
watching the sunset.

Day Three: Green Island

Head to Green Island, an uninhabited isle
which is privately owned by the Mill Reef
Club. The western part of the island is just
the spot for snorkeling and spotting colorful
fish, even turtles, as well as exploring quiet,
sandy beaches. It’s often described as a
charter highlight. You can also stop by
Willikies and the rock formation Devil’s

Day Four: Deep Bay

Head to the north-west of Antigua and Deep
Bay, which is renowned for great snorkeling
thanks to a 100-year old shipwreck in the bay.
You’ll be able to see a lot underwater here as
the water is so clear and calm. If you are
feeling energetic you can hike for 10 minutes
and explore Fort Barrington, which was built
in 1780.

Day Five: Great Bird Island

Sail to Great Bird Island, where you can spot
frigate and rare tropical birds, such as the
red-billed Tropic Bird. Explore the island and
a 15-minute walk up the hill will give you
spectacular views over the sea. If you want,
you can swim and snorkel and you might
even see rays and turtles.

Day Six: Carlisle Bay

Make for Carlisle Bay, known for its luxury
resort where you can enjoy the fine dining
ashore or stop at the wonderful anchorages to
explore beautiful scenery. It’s a great place
to kayak and explore the mangroves, or you
can enjoy a cocktail or two at Jolly Harbour.

Day Seven: Sail to English Harbor

Enjoy a leisure sail back to the base.
